During the 2023-2024 school year, the Center hosted 8 Tech Tuesdays, 6 Lunch & Learns, and 3 major Workshops. Here are a few examples!
Ungrading
In this Lunch & Learn, Dr. Jesse Stommel from the University of Denver discussed different ways to engage in Ungrading and how ungrading can emphasize care and equity for students.Â
Collaborative Note-taking using Social Annotation Apps
In this Tech Tuesday, Transy faculty from across disciplines discussed tools for Collaborative Note-Taking in their courses and shared ways that collaborative notetaking allows students to share ideas, ask questions, and build conversations.
Data Visualization with Tableau Public
In this Workshop, Dr. Kenton Rambsey from Howard University shared how he uses Tableau Public to create data visualizations. He argued for the value of sharing data from humanistic disciplines to highlight findings about history and society through digital storytelling.
Play with the DLA in May
In this four-part Workshop, Transy faculty taught each other techniques for building websites, making podcasts, and video editing in order to integrate multi-modal assignments and projects into their classes and help students develop digital literacies.
Digital Mapping and Survey Research
In this Tech Tuesday, Dr. Alan Bartley showcased how he teaches students to use Google Maps' mapping tools to track and analyze survey data.
Gamifying the Curriculum
In this Lunch & Learn, Dr. Steve Hess introduced the use of simulations, an active learning approach that requires students to critically engage with primary historical documents and ideas as they navigate complex roleplay scenarios.
